P.H.A.S.E. 1 Youth Association
PHASE 1 Youth Association was co-founded by Wayne Dawkins in 2002. Wayne had started a basic school in Jamaica as a college student and from that experience he knew it was important to make it a priority to implement international outreach as a way of teaching and encouraging youth to give back to the global community. Students in P.H.A.S.E. 1’s programs learned that despite the distance between us the plight of all people are the same and what happens in other countries has a direct effect on our community.
Through this program our students get an opportunity to travel and volunteer in communities around the world. In the past we have facilitated PHASE 1 step team members to take a trip to perform outreach in Nairobi Kenya and taken a team of inner-city basketball players to Duoi France. Ongoing projects include the support of Calabar Basic School in Trelawny, Jamaica. P.H.A.S.E. 1’s global efforts has also included assisting the 100’s of Canadian student athletes to earn academic scholarships south of the border in order to save families from going in debt borrowing large sums of money for post secondary education.
